Yesterday Angela Menz was announced as one of the guest judges for the Fashion at the Races competition, which will be held on Oaks Day Saturday 7th May at Morphettville Racecourse. This is big news if you are an avid racewear fashion follower as she’s, without a doubt, perfect for the 2016 judging line up. She is not only an innovative milliner but a fashion designer and entrant who regularly competes in FOTF (Fashions on the Field) events around Australia. We can’t wait to see what vibrant and captivating ensemble she will be wearing on the day.

Angela’s flamboyant and fun style saw her win Australia’s most sought after title, the 2011 national Myer Fashions on the Field competition at the Melbourne Cup. Her colour blocked outfit was, at the time, ahead of the trend and set her apart from the rest of the entrants. Since then Angela has continued to be a regular stand out at race days both on and off the stage covering FOTF events for On Track, On Trend. She even attends race meets with her father who also enters in the fashion competitions. Her love for fashion inspired him to give it a go and now their enjoyment in dressing up for the races is something they both share.

Although Angela has been to Adelaide before she is ‘so excited’ and ‘thrilled to be asked to come’ because she has been following along with the FATR (Fashion at the Races) competition online all year and loves the variety of styles the SA finalists have shown so far. With her expertise and races fashion knowledge Angela will bring a modern and fresh eye to the judging panel.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that Angela will vote for you if try to emulate her mish-mash style of colour explosions. She will be looking for something unexpected that catches her eye and stands out against the other entrants. FOTF is more than dressing well, Angela says it’s also very important to ‘look comfortable’ and own what you wear. ‘It comes down to what suits the person’ Angela says, as racewear and fashion evolves so too does the type of winning outfit the judges vote for.
