MILLINER PROFILE: KELLY LOUISE DESIGNS
Describe your style in 3 words or less
Classic and Elegant.
What are your achievements as a business?
Numerous finalists including 3 finalists in the 2017 Cairns Cup Day Classic Racewear section. 7 years in the industry and many more to come!
Where do you get inspiration from?
My inspiration comes from the clients personality and their outfit. It needs to look balanced and suit the wearer.
What are your favourite social media accounts that you follow?
Racewear Carousel, Social Butterfly Marketing, On Track on Trend, Milano Imai Field Fashion, Airs & Graces Styling, Style Edit Elite and Trackmode.
What do you love about millinery?
It’s art for your head. Coming from a fine art background I love the sculptural aspect of it. It’s also amazing to see the clients grow in confidence when they know they look fantastic!
What’s an unknown fact about yourself?
I am in my last semester of a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology.
What can your customers expect if they purchase from you?
Attention to detail in every piece and everything is handmade from the base to the trims. Its the only way to ensure they have perfectly matched millinery that will not look like anyone else’s at the track.
Briefly describe your ordering process and prices.
Clients can purchase ready made pieces directly from my website – www.kellylouisedesigns.com. My ready-made pieces range from $180 – $300. For bespoke orders I require lead time of at least 4 weeks, this allows for client consultation, material ordering and then the production of the headwear. Bespoke pieces start at $250 and require a 20% upfront deposit.
What are your future business plans?
Once my university degree is complete I look forward to having extra time to spend at the racecourses across Australia. I would love to see Kelly Louise Designs as part of the finalists at the major Australian and Worldwide race-days.
